Summer Build-Off – Rules & Info
Welcome builders!
Get ready to challenge your creativity and skills in the Zeonmarket x Gundam Fans Benelux Summer Build-Off — a community celebration of all things 1/144 Gunpla and mecha. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, this is your chance to shine and win prizes by building, customizing, and sharing your passion with fellow fans across Europe!
Important Dates
  • Build-Off Starts: July 4th, 2025
  • Entry Deadline: August 15th, 2025
  • Final Submission Deadline: November 1st, 2025 (start of FACTS Belgium)
How to Enter
  1. Go to Zeonmarket.com
  2. Order any 1/144 scale kit
  3. At checkout, write:
    ➤ “For competition” or “For Summer Build-Off” in the comments
You’ll receive a physical Entry Ticket with your order. This ticket confirms your official entry.
Using the Entry Ticket
  • Include the Entry Ticket in all your WIP (Work-In-Progress) photos to confirm your build was started during the event.
  • The ticket is not required in your final photos.
 

WIP & Final Submissions
Work-in-Progress (WIP) Requirements
  • Participants must post at least 1 WIP update every 2 weeks in the Build-Off section of the Gundam Fans Benelux Facebook group.
  • Each update must clearly show the Entry Ticket.
  • Consistent updates are mandatory; failure to maintain updates may result in disqualification.
Final Photo Submission
  • Submit at least 6 clear photos of your finished build — front, back, both sides, and top.
  • The more photos, the better! Capture all angles and details, especially mods or paintwork.
  • Submit your final entry by November 1st, 2025, 23:59 CET via email to contact@zeonmarket.com or WeTransfer.
  • Accepted file formats: JPG, PNG. Please keep file size reasonable.
  • Late submissions will not be accepted.
What’s Allowed
  • Any 1/144 scale Gunpla or mecha kit.
  • Painting, weathering, kitbashing, full customs, etc, go wild.
  • Use of third-party parts, 3D-printed upgrades, metal parts, and plastic mods is allowed.
  • Your build does NOT need to resemble the original kit.
  • Dioramas, scenic bases, and custom displays are allowed and encouraged, but not required.
 

What’s Not Allowed
  • Starting from an already built kit.
  • Submitting work that is not your own.
  • Adding in other mecha’s into your build is allow, however your ordered kit needs to be the centre of attention / the main object.
  • Overediting photos with Photoshop or AI-generated images.
General Rules
  • Only one entry per person is allowed.
  • Participants must adhere to all rules and deadlines to remain eligible.
  • The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any entry violating the rules.
  • By entering, you grant Zeonmarket and Gundam Fans Benelux permission to use your submitted photos for promotional purposes, with credit given.
Judging & Prizes
  • Judging will take place during FACTS Belgium on November 1st, 2025.
  • A panel from Gundam Fans Benelux and Zeonmarket will use a point-based system.
Judging Criteria (examples):
  1. Creativity
  2. Originality
  3. Build Quality (fit, assembly, clean-up)
  4. Technique (painting, weathering, modifications)
  5. Finish (paint smoothness, even coats, surface, nubmarks, sandmarks)
  6. Presentation (pose, diorama,)
  7. Cool Parts Usage (aftermarket, kitbashing, metal or plastic parts, scratch build)
  8. Decal Usage (placement, silvering, integration)
  9. Addon Usage (LEDs, extras, parts)
  10. Pose (dynamics, natural balance)
  11. Use of Details (fine scribing, panel lining)
  12. Clean-Up (nub removal, seams, gaps)
  13. Theme / Storytelling (scene, diorama, emotional impact)
  14. Difficulty / Complexity (custom parts, multi-kit conversions, electronics)
